EMINEM X KIMMEL X UNEMPLOYED DETROIT WORKERS.

Rapper Eminem has come together with Delta and Jimmy Kimmel to fly 200 laid-off autoworkers from Detroit to the Jimmy Kimmel Live show.

“In all the media coverage Detroit is getting, everyone forgets about the people that have lost their jobs without getting big cash payouts after dedicating themselves to the auto industry,” Eminem told the Free Press through his publicist. “Jimmy Kimmel and I got to talking, and we wanted to remind everyone that there are real people affected by what’s going on in Detroit, and try to show some of them a good time while we’re at it.”

Eminem and Kimmel are flying the UAW members to California for theEminem relapse show, then they’ll be invited to a “secret” show in metro Detroit next week.

Of course this is all in promotion for his new album Relapse in stores now but hey, because of his good deed for the unemployed I’m willing to give him the plug for his project.

This follows comedian Jay Leno’s successful “comedy stimulus plan” show in April in suburban Detroit that was aimed at bringing some comic relief to the battered city.

For the record, Michigan has the highest unemployment rate of any U.S. state at 12.6 percent, primarily due to the massive layoffs by struggling Detroit automakers. The jobless rate in Detroit is 22 percent, almost three times the national average.
