Join the unemployed in staging a breadline on November 20th.

Congress and the rest of the country will be gobbling on their turkeys on November 25th. But Thanksgiving 2010 will be no feast for those who have lost their jobs, as well as their unemployment benefits. We need to do something to draw attention to the plight of the long-term unemployed. We must be invisible no more!
Be part of a historic event on Saturday, November 20th. Join your fellow unemployed and supporters in recreating an image from the Great Depression. A 1930’s style “breadline” will be staged in front of the Federal Reserve Bank of NY, at 33 Liberty Street in downtown Manhattan, starting at 11:30 am. The media and a documentary filmmaker will be in attendance.
You may bring friends and family members (and children) with you to participate. We ask that everyone who will be standing in line wear black or dark clothing. Hats, flat caps, scarves and shawls are fine, but no white or bright colors. This needs to be a somber-looking image. The event organizers will be picking up stale loaves of bread, as props, during the week before the event. However, if you can obtain a loaf from a store or bakery that discards them at closing, please bring one with you.
