6 FRUGAL BENEFITS TO BEING UNEMPLOYED.

We all hear many negative things about being unemployed.  However, there are many benefits to being unemployed, and the best part is many of them do not require additional cash out of your pocket.

    1. Time to do things you enjoy. While employed, most of your time may have been spent at work or with work colleagues.  You may have attended work parties or related events.  Not much time was left over to enjoy the things you’ve always wanted to do.  Now that you have an infusion of time, go out and do what you have always wanted.  Volunteer, get a part time job in a field you enjoy, shoot photos or whatever suits your fancy.
    2. Eating regular meals. You know that 15 minute lunch hour you’ve always had?  Now you can make that a 2 hour lunch and have a siesta afterwards!
    3. Learn to cook. While living in New York City has its benefits, such as the limitless number of restaurants available.  It doesn’t do you much good while unemployed.  You may not have the cash to enjoy them all.  So do the next best thing.  Learn to cook the food you enjoy!  You might end up becoming the next Top Chef.
    4. Clean out your apartment/home. Get rid of anything you don’t need.  Live a minimal life, or just get rid of a few things that you don’t want anymore.  Chances are, you’re paying too much rent - why pay for storage of things you don’t want or need?
    5. Explore your neighborhood or your city on foot. Check out your local library.  Explore the historic buildings and sites.  Take pictures of your neighborhood.  You’ll meet many people who may end up helping you in your search for the next great opportunity in your life.
    6. Get healthy.  More excercise, less stress. Just don’t stress out over unemployment. Do your best to find that next job or opportunity that fits the lifestyle you REALLY WANT.
