The Yankees have won the World Series, and old man Winter is coming. Today we bring you a couple of ideas, including the Yankees parade, ice skating for free and a free book.
Yankees Parade
New York City will celebrate the Yankees’ record-extending World Series win over the Philadelphia Phillies with a ticker-tape parade tomorrow in Manhattan.
If you won one of the lucky tickets to be at the celebration, congrats! For the rest of us, we can try to get close to the parade or just watch it on TV - or via web.
The parade will begin at 11am, traveling up the Canyon of Heroes from Broadway at Battery Place, continuing north to Chambers Street. The newly re-elected Mayor Michael Bloomberg will present keys to the city to the team during a ceremony in City Hall Plaza.
Throughout lower Manhattan, you can see plaques on the streets commemorating each and every parade that’s been held there.
Free Popcorn and Ice Skating
The shops at Bryant Park are back. So is the FREE Ice Skating rink! Bring your ice-skates and enjoy the winter sport for Free. While you are there, you can drop by the Kettle Corn NYC shop and get a free sample!
Free Book
If you are looking for a freebie, we are giving away three copies of a book called How to Be an Everyday Philanthropist on FrugalNYC. If you are looking for ways to help others but don’t know where to start, this is a great book to get you started. If you find yourself with more free time for whatever reason, this book is full of ideas that will help you and others!
