Today, I learned about a perk of being unemployed. The option to do something in the middle of the day if I want to. My sister-in-law celebrated her birthday today, and I was able to go have lunch with her and my brother. (They work at the same school.) We laughed and I was her surprise for lunch. As i drove away, I couldn’t help but think. Wow, I would not have been able to do this had I not lost my job on monday. Perk? i think so.

Last week, one our good family friends brother passed away. Being here for anything that they might need is also a perk of being home.

My friends are coming out of the woodwork, I’m trying to network. However, I’m feeling quite prideful about actually asking for people to help me out. I wrote a few more cover letters and sent in my resume today. I’m starting to get good at cover letters. I have a few top choices for a position I would love to have. Tomorrow, I plan to call a few contacts, see if they can put in a good word for me at certain positions.

All in all it was a decent day.
