Sunday Blog Brunch: AfterPinkSlip.com.
Before we chat about the blog, what will you be having for brunch?
* JD on the rocks !!!
1. When were you laid off and what did you do? Or are you employed/self-employed? If so, what do you do now?
* I went out of the country in June 08 for a job. It was completed in Nov 09 and when I got back, there is no job. I have been looking since. Its tough tough times !! My professional field is Transportation Planning/Engineering.
2. Tell everyone the name of your site, where they can find it, then when and why you started your site.
* Me and bunch of my more tech savvy friends wanted to share information and help each other out, much like 405 Club. You guys are doing a great job !! We wanted to add features on the site to help fellow unemployed folks. Go to the www.afterpinkslip.com to find out. Would love comments !!
3. What is your motivation to continue blogging and/or running the site?
* Its tough for sure but the motivation is to help create a buzz and create a group of friends. If we can make help folks go through this difficult time, we may be able to make some good friends. That’s how community survive, I believe, by making friends.
4. Do you think blogging or running your site will help you find a job?
* Maybe, if I can find folks who are also looking for my kind of job. I am not a computer person, but my friends are, but they already have jobs !! :) My profession is offline :)
5. What do you want to do next professionally? (if you have a job, was this job what you had in mind when searching while unemployed?)
* Frankly, I am really debating whether to go back to my old job or jump into what I’ve always wanted to do, i.e. social entrepreneurship. We’ve a 2000 member Facebook group called Entrepreneurs For Nepal and we help young entrepreneurs with their ventures. That’s something I would love to do, but have to figure out how that will pay my bills !!
6. How will your blog change when you rejoin the workforce? (has it changed since rejoining the workforce?)
* I want to continue helping others even if I am employed. No doubt about that. I hope the site will be helpful for folks out there.
7. What’s new at your site and where does it go from here?
* I am looking to add tools for folks like me who are looking for a job. That may include helping with job searches, managing emails, etc. No expiration date so far. It just started !!!
Bonus Questions: Any final thoughts or words of wisdom for members of The 405 Club?
* You guys are doing a great job and we should collaborate and help each other out. Unemployment is a blessing in disguise. We should make the most of it !! Last but certainly not least, what is your favorite series/feature on The 405 Club?
* Saturday funny pages !! You guys are really doing a tremendous job. I am glad to be part of it.
