Hope you can make it! Pass the word please — tumblrs reblog, tweeters retweet, emailers email, social networkers share, etc. Make sure your unemployed friends know about this… They may just be on tv and get some free food out of it! RSVP here.

BUMMER! WEATHER GODS PROVE TO NOT BE ANY MORE SYMPATHETIC THAN JOB GODS.

PROJECT 405 PICNICLooks like both The Weather Gods and The Job Gods are in cahoots as The National Weather Service is calling for showers at 1pm tomorrow forcing our hand to postpone the Project 405 Picnic to the following Wednesday, August 26th from 1-4pm.

Hope to see you there! Look for a few balloons to mark our territory.

Please adjust your RSVP accordingly! http://the405club.ning.com/events/project-405-picnic

HAPPY HOUR IN T-MINUS 5.5 HOURS AND COUNTING.

clockWe just want to send out a quick reminder about our Happy Hour later today. Rain or shine, we’ll be getting together from 4-7PM at the Ship of Fools on 2nd Avenue between 82nd and 83rd Streets.

While this is purely a social gathering, don’t underestimate the importance of digging out of your hole just to meet new people. When we launched The405.com it was with the intent of bringing unemployed New Yorkers together and offering them an outlet to voice their feelings and frustrations. Although the website is our primary vehicle, we believe it is also important to get together in person from time to time.

So if you are anything like me and need to change the scenery while you are waiting for the sun to come out, join us this afternoon at the Ship of Fools. Don’t let the rain keep you down, with 2 for 1 drinks, including $3 pints, how can you?

If you haven’t signed up yet, please do. It’ll help us plan for the event.

Lastly, this is an open invitation, there is no need for our “working” friends to miss out on such a great deal.

RSVP [Here on our Ning Network] or [Here on our Facebook Group].

EXPERIENCE THE MAGIC

The premier of the long awaited 6th installment of the Harry Potter films is fast approaching.  Good news for unemployed fans that could use a little enchantment in their lives.

This Saturday, forget that you’re a Muggle and indulge in a day full of wizardly delights for next to nothing.

From noon-6pm, rain or shine, there will be a Quidditch match between two of the top college teams.  It will take place in McCarren Park, is 100% free and will also be filmed for a Half-Blood Prince promo on MTV.  E-mail HarryPotterMTV@gmail.com for details on any weather related schedule changes.

Once you are all ‘bludgered’ out, hop on the G train and head on down to The Bell House, where you can watch hours of wizard rock for $10.  Rock out to music performed live by The Whomping Willows, The Remus Lupins and my personal favorite, Harry and the Potters.

Cash strapped for movie ticket money?  Check out Fandango.com.  There is a popup on their site that will let you register for a free ticket.  Just make sure you select one of the offers that doesn’t include a shipping fee.  Keep in mind they also expire within 30 days.
